Take your family mediation skills and practice to the next level with this 20-hour (2 1/2 day) advanced divorce/separation mediation training with a nationally-recognized expert in the field.

Schedule:

Friday, 4/17: 4 PM-8 PM

Saturday, 4/18 and Sunday, 4/19: 9 AM-6 PM (with 1 hour lunch break)

NMC's Advanced Divorce Mediation Training with master trainer Robert Kirkman Collins will enable mediators to practice confidently in the complex field of family and divorce mediation. By the end of the training, participants will be grounded with the legal information, financial tools, mediation interventions, and personal dynamics required to act competently in this complex and often daunting field.  The training will cover parenting plans, child support, asset division, spousal support, taxes, insurance, and divorce filing procedures. 

Robert Collins, Esq., has practiced and taught divorce mediation for over thirty-five years, and currently serves as Director of the Divorce Mediation Clinic at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law while also teaching Ackerman Institute for the Family. The course will also act as a mediation “master class” to polish pre-existing mediation skills, providing an expanded repertoire of interventions and techniques.

Among topics covered in the Advanced Divorce and Separation Mediation training are:

  • Parenting Plans and Residential Schedules
  • Dealing with asset and liability distribution
  • Addressing issues specific to family separations
  • Including issues for children in changing family environments
  • Advanced mediator techniques

Pre-requisite: completion of a 36 to 40-hour Basic Mediation Training course
